2019-2020 Student Government Senator Application

SG Committees

The Student Government is currently accepting applications for Senator positions. 


  • Applicants must be enrolled in a degree program at the University of Michigan-Flint and have a cumulative 2.5 GPA or greater.  This GPA must be maintained throughout their tenure in Student Government.
  • Applicants must be able to attend General Assembly meeting every Wednesday evening (7:00 P.M.), Senate meetings and committees meetings (specific time to be determined) during the school year.

Compensation:  Senators receive $100 per semester contingent upon satisfactory completion of their duties.

Senator Job Description:

  • Each member of Senate shall be responsible for reviewing and understanding all documents and legislation that govern the University of Michigan-Flint Student Government.
  • Each member of the Senate shall initiate a Senatorial Caucus project that contributes to the academic success of students while enhancing student engagement and student life upon the University of Michigan-Flint’s campus.
    1. Senators must give an update on their university faculty committees during general body meeting under university committee reports
    2. Senators must present an updated caucus report at least once a month in progress made.
    3. If a Senator completes a caucus prior to the end of the academic year, the Senator must execute and maintain all other remaining senatorial duties.
    4. Caucus meetings should be held during regularly scheduled senate meetings, and be discussed in conjunction with committee meeting update.
    5. The Caucus must be approved by President Vice President and Vice Chair with 2/3 vote.
  • Serve as a member of, and actively participate in, at least one standing committee of the Student Government and one standing committee of the University Faculty
  • Each Senator must contribute at least five hours a week towards student government office hours.
